Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker: A Retrospective

Over the weekend I visited my brother, Aaron, and his girlfriend Lindsay in Williamsburg to play some GH:World Tour on XBox 360. He also has a Nintendo 64, Nintendo Wii, and a Sega Genesis (A hand-me-down from our brother).

After we got tired of rocking, Aaron popped in the classic 1990 Sega Genesis game Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker for some old(er)-school gaming. I remember playing this game in high school. I was 14 years old when the game game out; Aaron was 5. + Continue reading…

Do you want to win a skateboard?
I’ve got a well-used Yocaher for you.

A friend gave it to me years ago and since I don’t use it anymore, I’d like to pass it on to someone else. Click the thumbnail to the right for a larger view of the actual bottom of the board. (It has black griptape on top.)

How to Enter:
All you have to do to enter the contest is leave a comment to this post on sofaemployed.com telling me why I should give it you. Extra points for creativity.

Who is judging the contest?
I am. My decision is final. (Sasha will probably help, though.)

Is there another way to enter the contest?
No. The ONLY way to enter is by leaving a comment to this post below.

Other Rules:
The contest is open to everybody, but if you win you have to be able to meet me in person somewhere in NYC to claim your prize. (Sorry, I can’t ship it anywhere.)

McClure’s Pickletini

My wife and I make frequent trips to the Brooklyn Flea. One of the best things about it is that I can visit Bob McClure and stock up on his pickles. I don’t actually know Bob, but I’ve bought a lot of pickles and relish from him. He’s really friendly and always has another new use for the pickles or the brine. Today he suggested reusing the brine to pickle my own veggies. McKellner’s Pickles are coming soon…

Besides being delicious on their own, the main reason I love McClure’s Pickles is because they make the best Pickletinis. I make them with either the Garlic & Dill or the Spicy flavor, depending on what mood I’m in or what I’ve got in fridge. (Be careful, the spicy pickles are REALLY spicy.)

Pickletinis are the perfect way to unwind after spending the whole day on the sofa.

Here’s my recipe:
5 oz Vodka
1 oz Dry Vermouth
1 oz McClure’s Pickle Brine
3-5 Olive-sized Pieces of Pickle

Into a cocktail shaker, pour the Vodka, Dry Vermouth and Pickle Brine.
Add ice.
Shake well.
Strain and pour contents of cocktail shaker into a martini glass.
Drop the pickles into the martini before serving.

(Don’t worry if you don’t have a cocktail shaker or martini glasses, I think the drink works equally well in a tumbler with 2 or 3 ice cubes.)
